Mariss Stevens delights in teaching people the joy of hand stitching and gives classes at her home and at festivals. She is a full-time quilt artist and a SAQG Specialist Teacher. She is a member of TAPE (Textile Artists of PE), the South African textile art group, Fibreworks, and the Dias Quilters’ Guild. She has exhibited locally and overseas. She is a self-taught artist, but has attended and given workshops on quilt-making. Her area of interest is hand stitching and the contemporary adaptation of the ancient stitch forms of Kantha, Boro, and Kawandi. She writes a weekly blog about her stitch practice.
