Colleen started quilting in 2009 when she moved to St Francis Bay in the Eastern Cape. With a background in fashion design her love of fabric, colour and design were the perfect match for the craftsmanship and skills that are required for quilting. Quilting has become an integral part of her life. She enjoys experimenting with new techniques and she likes to push the boundaries. Her aesthetic leans more towards Modern and Contemporary styles, but she also loves nostalgic pieces rooted in stories. She has won awards at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, Quiltcon in the USA and the South African National and regional festivals. In 2015 she became a Master Quilter and a SAQG Accredited Quilt Teacher. She has attended Quilt shows in Australia, France and the UK and she is still in awe of this incredible art form and the variety of styles within it.
