With over 30 years of experience in patchwork, embroidery, and quilting, Tilly de Harde is a textile artist known for her innovative approach to fibre and texture as well as her numerous prizewinning quilts, locally as well as internationally. Her work is rooted in traditional quilting but explores unconventional materials to create unique surfaces and effects. Through extensive research and experimentation, she develops new techniques and shares them with quilters eager to incorporate unexpected textures into their art.
An accredited teacher with the Golden Rand Guild and the South African Quilters’ Guild (SAQG), Tilly teaches regularly from her Johannesburg studio, online and by invitation to quilting guilds and groups. She is an active member of SAQG, Golden Rand Guild, Part Time Quilters, TAGG and Fibreworks.
In recognition of her contributions to the quilting world, she was inducted into the South African Quilters’ Guild Hall of Fame in June 2020.
